The service was wonderful! We went and got served by Caroline, she was attentive, smiled and was overall just wonderful. The food was lovely and the restaurant was very laid back and enjoyable.
Having only been here once, this place has already become my new favorite spot for a savory breakfast! The menu features elevated breakfast dishes that I wouldn't typically make at home which is what I look for in a restaurant that serves breakfast. I tried the Lump Crab & Scrambled Egg* Enchilada and the Devil's Shrimp & Grits, and honestly, the shrimp and grits were the best I've ever had. OH! and the breakfast potatoes were also the best ever. The place is pretty small, so if you don't have a reservation, be ready for a wait. Luckily, it's near the river, so you can take a walk or hangout on a bench until your table's ready. After my amazing meal and eyeing up all the other yummy-looking dishes being served around me, I cannot wait to go back, and I haven't stopped recommending it to my friends!
My group arrived at Millie's for a quick breakfast. There was a 45 min wait. We were seated in about 25 mins, so that was good. The place is small and cute, quaint. We had a party of 6, I ordered the Cornbeef brisket with scrambled eggs with cheese. The brisket was delish but salty, not sure if it was the meat or the potato's but overall it was good. My friend had the salmon and said it was so tender and perfectly cooked. I will definitely go back.
Hole on the wall type restaurant but delicious food. I ordered the steak and eggs and my fiance ordered a burger and we bother enjoyed our food. I wish I remembered our waiters name, he was very nice and attentive. Everything tasted cooked to order and fresh. My only knock is that there were cobwebs everywhere and it just looked like the place needed a good wipe down.
Most people know Millie's for its highly rated brunch. I would encourage you to try some of their lunch offerings. I had the grilled eggplant and Brie sandwich. It was perfectly grilled and the Brie was nicely melted. They offer lots of craft beer but I had a nice glass of Chardonnay with my sandwich. The place is super cozy and welcoming. There is a small bar when you enter, booths and tables, and outdoor seating. My server was so friendly and attentive. I was waited on as soon as I was seated and my drink and food came shortly thereafter. Check out this place the next time you are in the area!
What a hidden gem! I live so close to this place and never realized it was here, but I have been really missing out. The food and drinks were so delicious and the prices are not bad considering the quality and uniqueness of the items. Our server was amazing, he was so cool and checked on us frequently even though it was a busy Saturday morning. I also love that you can make reservations - pretty rare for a diner-type restaurant, so that was a big win. Cannot wait to eat here again and try something new.
Hungover with a headache is how I entered Millie's on a Saturday morning. Buzzed and happily full of food is how I left. I got the huevos ranchero and the Moscow mule. The food was amazing but the Moscow mule brought me back to life. My husband got the Cajun mess and our waitress recommends the mess if you've never been which is what I will be getting next time. 10/10 recommend for food and service but it was the music that was the best!
New year, new food! I got away from reviewing last year, and want to make sure I get back to it, starting with my New Years brunch at Millie's. As a reminder, my grading system gives a grade on each star, for my final tally. The 5 categories are: Service Ambiance Food Cost v Value Overall experience Millie's is a staple of the RVA brunch scene, often times needing reservations. They have a small outdoor seating area that is both covered and heated. Inside there is a bar area, and two dining areas with booths & tables. We sat outside and our server greeted us promptly. She was very nice and helpful, with a festive Christmas sweater. Reading over the menu, I never knew the history of Millie's! I strongly encourage anyone who eats there to read it, as the story is fascinating. After reading this I decided that "The Devils Mess" was my go to, while my gf got the NYE special "The Struggle Bus". Both of them were amazing! I didn't realize that the eggs in the mess were done frittata style, and anything with jalapeño biscuits is going to be great. The food was fantastic, filling, and definitely worth the under 20 price tag. Even though we were stuffed, we couldn't resist the cranberry buttercream chocolate cake. Moist, and delicious! This is certainly a place that you don't want to miss when visiting Richmond, and I feel bad that it's taken me this long to visit! Already excited about my next visit...
Millie's is your quaint neighborhood diner. Inside is like a step back in time with table side jukeboxes and intimate tables and chairs. Visited for Sunday brunch with friends, a group of 5 and it was a tight fit at the table. Service was good, our server was attentive. I got the Huevos Rancheros which were yummy and filling. While the feel is a average diner, the food on the brunch menu was a step above.
